Made us sufficient

Not good enough.
Pity the perfectionists, the timid, the self-confessed sinners and those who think they’re decent people. It’s true for us all – we never measure up to God’s glorious standard.
Oh, we try and do good things. We may help an elderly man to walk across the street, but then we turn and envy the mother with a perfect body who just went past. We lift our hands in worship, then judge the person sitting nearby who hasn’t washed in a week. When compared with holiness, we are just shriveled rags next to splendid satin.
No, we aren’t good enough. But take heart – Jesus went to the cross, dying and paying the price of sin, so that now we are holy. We are enough.
“…we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient…” 2 Corinthians 3:4-6a
We trust in God’s love, expressed in Christ’s death, to cover our past and present wrongs. We trust in His ability to make us sufficient.
You are enough. Not because of anything you’ve done, but because He declares you enough.
